We are a Montessori school serving infants from 6 weeks old, toddlers and preschoolers, with individual attention as children develop independence.

Ch. 1

The Story

At Abbey, we are dedicated to developing the values and character of the child utilizing the principles of Montessori education. We integrate self-esteem, self-discipline, cooperation and a love of learning into our program. Our program is developmentally appropriate for the ages that we serve.

We were founded at the beginning of the new millennium.

Children are accepted without regard to race, color, creed, physical disabilities or national origin. Parents are the child’s first and ongoing teachers. We consider it a privilege to join them in this important task.

Ch. 2

Programs

The Montessori Program provides the sense of security, nurturance and loving care that infants and toddlers need to thrive during this stage of intense learning. The curriculum takes advantage of the rapid growth of fine and gross motor skills including sensory and perceptual development, self-help skills, physical and motor skills, and social and emotional growth.

Infant Program

The Infant Program is designed to provide a warm, caring, safe environment for the young child.

Ages6 weeks and up

Hours7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Toddler Program

The Toddler Program is usually the child's first experience away from home, and it is a comfortable place for the child to begin to explore the world.

Ages1 year to 2 years

Hours7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Preschool Program

Children work at their own pace with the guidance and encouragement of the directress. Our curriculum covers practical life, sensorial, language, mathematics and cultural studies.

Ages2 years and up

Hours7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Ch. 3

The Campus

We are located at 138 North San Pedro Road in San Rafael. Our classrooms have an ambience of calm and order and give children easy access to a rich collection of stimulating, unique learning materials.

Extended care is available daily before and after school, from 7:00 a.m. to 8:45 a.m. and from 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Ch. 5

Admissions

We welcome prospective parents to tour our school.

Tours

Bookings are essential. Toddlers and preschoolers are invited to visit for a day for classroom orientation and to determine the suitability of the program.

Application

Complete and return the application form with a $250.00 deposit, applicable towards tuition and non-refundable unless the child is not accepted. An interview follows, to discuss your child's interests and your goals and to share more about our school. Community Care Licensing forms must be completed before attendance.

iii.

Priority

Continuing students and siblings are given first option to enroll for the following year by submitting a deposit and completing a tuition agreement. This usually occurs in January each year and new enrollees are accepted after the deadline. If an opening is unavailable, the child may be placed on a waiting list.
