The Story
The Children’s Cottage Cooperative (CCC) is a play-based environment, centered around the children’s interests, imagination and passions. Children are given a foundation of trust and love that will enable them to open their hearts and minds to the world around them. Our mission is to instill a love of learning in children and help them develop essential life skills. By honoring their thoughts and feelings, allowing them to practice problem-solving, and encouraging openness to the world around them, we teach children to value themselves and others.
CCC was founded by a group of forward-thinking mothers, who wanted to raise their children as a community. It has been preserved by a growing community of teachers and parents, after several relocations across Marin County in the past 70 years. It has finally found its home in the historic Remillard Cottage which was built in 1891.
We are a community of invested parents that is committed to continually strengthening the cooperative through our unique talents. We ensure our children have a safe and joyful childhood experience – centered around play. We are kind and respectful. We are welcoming and supportive. We laugh and celebrate with one another. We treat all children and each other with a deep sense of care and warmth.
