We serve preschool children in a morning program with learning in outdoor classrooms.

Ch. 1

The Story

By integrating the best concepts in early childhood education with the beauty of our Jewish tradition, we create meaningful and enriching experiences for our students. We support each child as they develop independence, confidence, creativity, and self esteem.

All areas of the curriculum are open for the child to freely explore as their curiosity dictates.

We received our certification from the Outdoor Classroom Project in January 2018, after teacher training hours and ongoing improvements to our yard.

We seek to work in partnership with families to ensure that each child reach their full potential.

Programs

At Gan we offer a morning preschool program.

Scouts

We provide an environment, where the children can learn through play and develop a positive self-image.

Hours9:00-12:30 for the youngest children; 9-1 option for the others; optional early care 8:00-9:00; aftercare until 4:30 pm.

Explorers

In our Explorers group, we help to widen their window into the outside world, by sharing new ideas and experiences with them.

Hours9:00-12:30 for the youngest children; 9-1 option for the others; optional early care 8:00-9:00; aftercare until 4:30 pm.

Mountaineers

For the Mountaineer class we strive to provide an environment that kindles the spark that will become a lifetime love of learning.

Ch. 3

The Campus

Our Gan Preschool is a certified Outdoor Classroom Demonstration Site.

We offer a creative and nurturing outdoor environment in San Rafael.

Since children at this stage of development depend on their sense of touch to learn about the world around them, we always provide a tactile activity area such as play dough, sand, or water for the children to explore.

Our day is spent in our well equipped outdoor classrooms.

Our Mountaineers lead teacher advisor, Betsy Surtshin, is building our outdoor learning environment, helping the children and staff experience nature in a meaningful way on a daily basis.

Enrichment

Our program is enriched with experiences in our outdoor classrooms. We host weekly singalong and dance circles with guitar music.

Worship

We celebrate Shabbat with challah.

Religious studies

All of the Jewish holidays are taught through a hands-on experience, at the most basic level of the holiday.

Values

The children’s interaction with each other will also be an important opportunity for growth, as they learn how to deal with each other with Ahavat Yisrael (“love and respect of our fellow person”) while finding constructive solutions to their problems.

Admissions

Our Enrollment is ongoing, when space in our current program allows. After enrollment, we encourage families to visit with their child before the first day to become acquainted with staff, the environment and classmates.

Tours

We offer tours by appointment.

Application

For Fall admission we will be accepting applications starting January of that calendar year. Applications received after this date will be considered on a first come, first serve basis. Immunization, DSS and signed health forms must be submitted before the first day.
